Digital Nomad Life

digital nomad life in South Korea

I look at affordable destinations for digital nomads, even if these are not the typical ones. I’ve never been to Bali and instead worked on my laptop from North Macedonia, Nepal, and Colombia. You’ll notice when this blog takes off because I’ll be blogging about the best hikes in Switzerland.

My Top Countries for Remote Work

My favorite country for digital nomading has to be Vietnam. I love the bạc xỉu coffee (strong iced coffee sweetened with condensed milk and smoothed with regular milk), and don’t get me started about the food. Vietnam is affordable enough that I can get a second drink while I work, and exploring this beautiful country by scooter is just so much fun.

After working remotely in Uganda and Rwanda for two months, I can say that traveling in those regions is not for the faint-hearted. Personally, I’d rather go on a holiday-style adventure there and work from elsewhere. Like South Korea or Japan for the super fast internet and being able to walk around at night.

Sustainable travel for digital nomads

When my boyfriend buys plastic water bottles or our mango lassis come with plastic bendy straws, I like to say that the turtles are crying. There’s nothing I can say to offset all my flights. But I don’t have an apartment, a massive TV, or a car. I bring a water filter for water independence and reducing my plastic waste. I refuse plastic bags and always bring a tote. I travel by bus instead of taxi (this also helps keep costs low). I eat very little meat, especially in places where chickens are hanging from shop windows in the sun.
